Web Searching

Overview

FormWise offers an Internet Access feature that enables your Copilots and SmartForms to access and retrieve real-time information from the web. This can be especially useful when you need the most current data for decision-making or generating responses based on live information. This feature is activated through a checkbox in your tool settings and is available for both Copilots and SmartForms.

How the Internet Access Feature Works

  1. For Copilots:

  • When internet access is activated, the Copilot can search the web based on instructions provided by the user during a conversation. For example, if a user asks the Copilot for the latest information about a company or event, the Copilot will perform a search on Google and return the most up-to-date information.

  • Important: The search only retrieves results from the main Google search pageβ€”it does not explore or scrape individual links or URLs. For deeper scraping, our Web Crawling feature should be used.

  1. For SmartForms:

  • In SmartForms, the internet access feature is activated when prompt instructions require real-time information. For example, if a user enters a business name, the SmartForm will search for that business on Google and provide the latest public information available on the search result page.

  • Like with Copilots, the search is limited to the primary results page, and no link exploration or scraping of individual sites occurs.

Key Differences from the Web Crawling Feature:

  • Internet Access retrieves summary information from Google's main search results, making it fast and efficient for up-to-date facts.

  • Web Crawling, on the other hand, dives into the content of a specific URL to pull detailed text from that page.

Scenario Example:

Imagine you are using a Copilot to help create a business report. If you ask the Copilot to "find the latest financial news about XYZ Corp," the Copilot will perform a Google search and retrieve the top search results summarizing the information. Alternatively, in a SmartForm, if a business owner enters their company name, the tool can search Google to verify details like location or customer reviews, ensuring accurate and current information is used.

This feature ensures that your FormWise tools avoid hallucinating outdated or incorrect information by leveraging the web for up-to-the-minute data.

How to Enable Internet Access

To activate this feature, simply check the β€œEnable Internet Access” option in your tool's settings. This option is available for both Copilots and SmartForms. Once enabled, your tool will be able to retrieve real-time information from Google search results as needed.

This feature is ideal for businesses or individuals requiring timely, reliable data directly within their workflows!
